A little background: Once upon a time two friends were sitting around thinking of what to do the next weekend. One suggested "Hey let's make a crappy sci-fi film." The other said "Yes, let's. And we can use hairdryers and smoke bombs for props." Armed with a twenty dollar bill, some clay, and a can or two of spray-paint they were well on their way to making something that could be embarrassing for years to come. The two enlisted many a friend to help them. But low, the plot became too big for a twenty minute gag. One day, before they could begin to film, the two friends found themselves in the back seat of a van on the way to an amusement park. One friend remembered suddenly that she drew comics. Thus the thing you now see is Project Toren, a graphic novel with sections done in comic form and others in written form. It started as a spoof on sci-fi/fantasy clichés and ended up including all our addictions from monsters and the paranormal all the way to pirates. The first issue of Toren was done many odd years ago. |
